Show Notes
Terry Bell, a veteran South African journalist, passed away at 84 from a heart attack. Known for challenging injustice, he built a career fighting apartheid, starting on local newspapers and later in exile. After returning in 1991, he continued scrutinizing the new democracy. Bell co-founded an anti-apartheid group, taught at a liberation college, and drafted ANC school materials. He was remembered as a big-hearted intellectual who danced ballet and marched for workers rights. Bells book Unfinished Business exposed companies fueling apartheid, sparking lawsuits. He blogged fearlessly on corruption and neo-colonialism until his death. He leaves behind his family and donated his body to medical science.
