Show Notes
South Africas power grid is in crisis, with over 91,000 outages in 2025 alone, according to solar firm Wetility. Johannesburgs City Power is the worst offender, with an average outage duration of nearly 14 hours. This falls far short of national benchmarks, which demand 98% of outages to be restored within 24 hours. Even Tshwane struggled in February, restoring only 57.5% of outages in a day. The situation is dire, and its time to push for real fixes before the lights go out for good.
