Sergeant Fannie Nkosi testified at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry about his involvement with Vusimuzi Matlala, a taxi boss known as Cat. Nkosi revealed that Matlala may have met with Deputy President Paul Mashatile and General Shadrack Sibiya. Nkosi picked up a jet ski for Matlalas son and later sent photos of a black First National Bank card left on it, which Matlala needed for meetings. Nkosi claimed he didnt know the card was a bribe and had no idea about Matlalas crimes, only following orders. Witness accounts suggest Matlala paid Sibiya around five hundred thousand rand in cash, sometimes routing money through Nkosis Absa account. The commission continues to investigate police-taxi industry connections.
