Show Notes
Dana Point honors surfing pioneer Lorrin Whitey Harrison with a lifesize bronze statue at Watermen’s Plaza. Harrison, who started surfing at twelve, claimed championships and pioneered waves at San Onofre Beach. He stowed away to Hawaii, bonding with locals and bringing Hawaiian beach vibes back to Southern California. Harrison worked as a lifeguard and stuntman, organized Californias first outrigger race, and started the Dana Outrigger Canoe Club. His statue joins legends at the plaza along Pacific Coast Highway.
