Kirn Young Kim, convicted of murdering Stuart Tay in 1992, is fighting to overturn his conviction after a change in California law. Kim, then 16, served over a decade in prison for acting as a lookout during the brutal attack. Prosecutors used a natural and probable consequences theory to charge him, despite him staying outside during the killing. Kim, an honors student with no criminal history, maintains he didnt know about the full plan and thought his friend was exaggerating threats. The hearing to decide if his conviction gets vacated is set for Monday.
