Rodolfo Acuna, a pioneering professor at Cal State Northridge, has passed away at 93. He founded the universitys Chicano and Chicana Studies department in 1969 and taught for over 40 years. Acuna was a leading figure in the field, shaping Chicano education and inspiring activists and scholars. His book Occupied America became a cornerstone of the Latino political movement. Acuna wrote numerous works and mentored many, including actress Eva Longoria. He won a discrimination lawsuit settlement and numerous awards. His legacy lives on through the department he created and his influence on education and activism.
