Show Notes
A new federal medical center is set to open in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, after decades of promise. This 235,000 square foot facility will offer dialysis, diabetes care, and optometry services, easing the burden on the overcrowded and outdated Albuquerque Indian Health Center. The center, to be run by the U.S. Indian Health Service, is part of a larger effort to replace aging facilities and meet growing demand. However, experts warn that eight billion dollars is needed to fully address the backlog, with the recent one billion dollar investment from Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior only a start.
