Metrolink Cuts Train Service Due to Parts Shortages and Mechanical Issues

Metrolink, a commuter rail service in Southern California, is reducing train service starting March 23rd due to a backlog of locomotive and railcar repairs caused by parts shortages and mechanical problems. The service, which usually runs 164 trips per weekday, has already canceled 43 trains this month. The cuts will affect most lines, with some lesser-used routes stopping entirely and popular ones getting shorter trips or adjusted schedules. The Riverside Line and Arrow service are the only ones spared. Metrolink hopes to restore full service after seven weeks.
