Nathan Martin, a 36-year-old high school coach from Michigan, won the Los Angeles Marathon in a photo finish, edging out Kenyas Michael Kamau by a hundredth of a second. Martin, the fastest U.S.-born African American marathoner, became the second American man to win since 1994. In the womens race, Kenyas Priscah Cherono dominated, winning wire-to-wire and nearly breaking the course record.
