Gas prices in Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties surged to record highs, with the biggest one-day jump since 2012. Prices have climbed by about 50 cents in the past week and are up to 70 cents higher than a month ago. The spikes were accelerated by the U.S.-Israel strike on Iran, pushing crude oil to mid-70 dollars per barrel. Nationally, the average price climbed to the highest since August 2022.
