Show Notes
Los Angeles County Sheriffs deputy Scott Simpkins pleaded guilty to obstructing justice in a scandal involving crypto businessman Adam Iza and corrupt cops. Simpkins lied about covering up an extortion attempt by Iza, who called himself the Godfather of crypto. Another ex-deputy, Michael Coberg, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison for helping Iza shake down a rival and stage a fake drug bust. The scandal began at Izas Bel Air mansion party, where off-duty deputies provided security and later received a cut of the profits from a new security contract with Iza. Simpkins faces up to ten years when sentenced on July thirteenth.
