S6 Ep 220220. Coaching Lessons I've Learned from Ted Lasso with Arthur Aguirre, Ph.D.

I wanted to book Ted Lasso as a guest…but there was a small problem!Recently, I sent a survey to my audience asking who they'd like to hear from about instructional coaching, and one of the responses was Ted Lasso! That gave me a good laugh, but honestly, I loved the idea! Since he’s a fictional character and not a real person, I knew I couldn’t actually have him on the show. So, I decided to do the next best thing and share the coaching lessons I've learned from Ted Lasso. As I planned this episode, I realized the perfect person to join me was my friend, Arthur Aguirre, Ph.D. Not only does he love Ted Lasso as much as I do, but he also has a podcast about leadership lessons learned from watching TV and movies. In this episode, Arthur and I give you an overview of the show and explore Ted Lasso’s coaching style. We share our favorite quotes and the lessons we learned from the show. Some of the topics we discuss are the importance of caring for others, bringing out the best in our team, being curious, leading with empathy, and believing in yourself and others. Even though Ted Lasso isn’t real, everything he says is pure gold. His leadership style is a masterclass in coaching with heart!
