Sometimes you must put distance between yourself and an addicted loved one. It's a tough decision and usually comes after MANY failed attempts to help the person. It's heartbreaking💔

Amber explores the complexities of addiction in relationships. Addicts and alcoholics often have a twisted thinking process, making it difficult to empathize and connect with loved ones.

They may regret losing the benefits of a relationship but not regret losing the person themselves, and the fight/flight or high/withdrawal state induced by addiction can create chaos and make it harder to connect with people.

The journey to recovery takes time, requires gaining insight through counseling or 12-step meetings, and may involve medication like Suboxone. I aim to help you focus on self-care and establish reasonable boundaries. Sometimes, backing off and cutting contact with an addict or alcoholic may help them see the need for change more quickly.
