Show Notes

In the latest episode of “Mizzou Storytellers,” Loretta Jones, Dave Matter and “Producer Steve” Sowers visit with Mizzou cheerleading coach Cynthia Metz and Golden Girls coach Cayla Timberlake to learn how two Missouri natives and Mizzou graduates grew into roles as the leaders of Mizzou’s cheer and dance teams. Cynthia and Cayla share how they fell in love with cheer and dance and proudly wore the Black and Gold as students at Mizzou before making the transition into coaching. We learn the secrets of Cheer’s famous Statue of Liberty pose, the pressure behind making the squads each season and the role of ambassadorship that comes with being part of their teams. Later, Dave and Loretta reflect on last week’s Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony and look forward to more festivities with Homecoming just around the corner.
