In the latest episode of “Mizzou Storytellers,” Loretta Jones and Dave Matter visit with longtime Mizzou Sports Information Director and current Mizzou Athletics historian Bob Brendel, the ultimate storyteller when it comes to the Black and Gold. Brendel tells his own story, from growing up a sports fanatic in St. Louis to attending Mizzou and later learning under his mentor, Bill Callahan, one of the pioneers in the industry of college sports communications. Nearly 35 years after the most infamous game in Mizzou history, Brendel recounts his fascinating memories of the “Fifth Down Game” and pays tribute to the Larry Smith era, when Tiger football roared back to life in the 1990s.
