Show Notes
Indianas state parks are getting a major accessibility boost with a one million dollar Lilly Endowment grant. Forty-five all-terrain motorized wheelchairs, or track chairs, will be available for free at every state park and inn. These chairs, resembling tank tracks, will open miles of scenic paths to people with limited mobility, making Indiana a leader in park inclusivity. Additionally, twenty-five million dollars from the same grant will upgrade parks with new campgrounds, playgrounds, historic repairs, and accessibility features like improved fishing spots and wildlife viewing.
