To belong, be connected to roots, and conserve one's culture while passing it on to the next generation are themes that constantly recur in the lives of Indians living abroad. Festivals, apart from being occasions, also provide an opportunity to connect their children born in a different culture and environment to their roots.
The building of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya encompasses all of the above and more. We spoke to a group of professional first-generation Indians living in the UK about how and why this is important for them, and how they are involving their children in this process. Additionally, we explore the option of going back to India in the current context.
