March isn’t even here yet and we have already had more madness than the country can handle. From DOGE’s cuts to government services to Trump’s random brain farts masking as ideas, to Kash Patel being sworn in as the head of the FBI, there is a lot to be angry about and there are a lot of villains to be angry at. But there are also heroes that will arise. Heroes like the Kelly brothers, the famous astronaut twins who are now locked in battle with Elon who can’t seem to make enough money or people mad. It’s a ridiculous time in Washington and it will only get worse. And Paul’s digging into all of it. And our guest this episode is another hero that is stepping up. A man who put it all on the line for his country and sacrificed a successful career in Congress to stand up against Trump and to do what was required of him. He might be a former Congressman, but Adam Kinzinger made a massive impact in his time in Congress and he showed the world what integrity and commitment to country over part really looks like. That’s right. 22 Democrat senators voted along with the Republicans to put Collins in charge of the VA. They won’t save you. They can’t even save themselves.But don’t despair fully. It’s been a massive, cold and painful week. And he hasn’t even been inaugurated yet. We’re hurtling towards more and more massive and painful weeks. And massive impacts. And this week the most consequential news revolved around the hearings for SECDEF and the cowardice of Republican Senators and their inability to stand up to Trump and deny Pete Hegseth. But the other party continues to be weak and feckless and sucks in its own unique ways. The Democrats put up a paltry attack. Again. They got rolled. Again. And now it looks as if Hegseth is inevitable and has set the tone for a January of bizarro world cabinet nominees and Trump momentum. None of it is normal, none of it is acceptable and none of it is preordained. But the Democrats continue to lose. Lose power, lose control, lose the narrative, and lose whatever semblance of cohesion they had. It’s time to stop investing in failure, America. 2025 is here and we’re still on break. 2024 was a rough one and we needed to catch up on rest after a historically hectic year. Union organizer, mechanic, first-time candidate and superstar independent Navy veteran, Dan Osborn (@OsobornForSenate) is back and he’s here to let us know what it was like to run the highest profile independent political race since Ross Perot, how he broke through, and what’s next for him and the movement. Independent Americans host Paul Rieckhoff has been to both conventions for the last twenty years. Last week you heard from Bonnie Carroll about her work with host Paul Rieckhoff to create the American Veterans for Ukraine organization. Immediately after recording that show, in advance of Memorial Day, at a historic event at Ukraine House in Washington, D.C., five leading voices from the American veterans community formally announced the formation of a groundbreaking new veterans organization focused on supporting victory in Ukraine. Hillsman first rocked the political world when he helped elect the late Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone in 1990 in one of the biggest political upsets in decades. In 1993, Hillsman took over a floundering Minneapolis mayoral campaign four weeks before election day, resulting in Sharon Sayles-Belton's election as the first African-American and the first woman mayor of Minneapolis, a city comprised of 85 percent white voters. He later shocked the world by helping Jesse “The Body” Ventura become Governor of Minnesota in 1998. When he joined independent candidate Ralph Nader during the 2000 election, his inventive campaign, created on a tiny budget, had the whole country talking and rethinking how we sell our politicians. And for decades, Bill has been a man on a mission to change our political system. His book Run The Other Way is an eye-opening look at the political landscape with a cast of characters that includes Colin Powell, Ross Perot, Donald Trump, Kinky Friedman and Warren Beatty. And with independents in the driver's seat to determine the 2024 Presidential election (and the future of our country) Bill is a wise and experienced leader we all need to hear from.
