Journey to a New Home-Desert Bighorn Sheep in the Franklin Mountains

What an exciting episode about the new relocation project of Desert Bighorn Sheep coming to the Franklin Mountains in Texas. Recently, at the 2025 Sheep Show in Reno put on by the Wild Sheep Foundation I was able to sit down with my good friend Dr. Sam Cunningham, President of the Texas Bighorn Society, and Froylan Hernandez, Desert Bighorn Sheep Program Leader for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. We had a great chat about the history of the Desert Bighorn Sheep in Texas and some of the battles they face today ultimately leading to the need for this historic relocation of healthy sheep into a new home in the Franklin Mountains in far west Texas.
