Illinois freshman Keaton Wagler has made history, becoming the first Fighting Illini freshman to earn a spot on the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-America second team. This achievement places him on all four major teams that contribute to the N-C-A-A Consensus All-America selection for the 2025-26 season. Waglers impressive performance this year has broken the Illinois freshman scoring record with 573 points and hes on track to surpass the all-time Illini freshman scoring average from 1993-94. Hes one of just three freshmen nationally averaging at least 17 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4 assists, ranking second in offensive rating among high-usage players and seventh in KenPoms player of the year standings. Waglers standout moment was a 46-point game against Purdue, earning him national player of the week honors.
