Berlioz inventa una nuova forma di concertazione che descrive nelle sue Memorie: "Pensai di scrivere per l'orchestra una serie di scene nelle quali la viola solista si trovava mescolata come un personaggio più o meno attivo conservando sempre un suo carattere".
Berlioz invents a new form of concertation which he describes in his Memoirs: "I thought of writing for the orchestra a series of scenes in which the viola soloist was mixed as a more or less active character, always retaining its own character".
