S2 Ep 53"Safe Space Soldiers" with Amber Smith
EWe welcome Amber Smith to the show!Amber is a former US Army "Kiowa Warrior" attack helicopter pilot, former Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Outreach in Public Affairs, and Author of "Danger Close" which chronicles here time in the US Army during the Global War on Terrorism. Her new book, "Unfit To Fight: How Woke Policies Are Destroying Our Military", releases 30 April, 2024! Amber joins us this episode to discuss "Unfit To Fight"! Over the past several years, the US Military has failed to meet it's recruitment goals and this year the US Air Force missed its goal for the first time since Bill Clinton was President. What could be causing these shortcomings in recruiting? We also discuss the increasing obesity rates among US service members, out-of-touch leadership, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) policies destroying the inherent meritocracy of the military, and how the 2019/2020 mandates undercut heavy layers of trust. "Woke-ism" has run rampant through the ranks of the US military and is eating away at it like a mind virus. For a long time the American people have looked at their military with gratitude, trust, and respect, but now that respect and, more importantly, trust, is depleting rapidly. Standards, discipline, espirit-de-corps, camaraderie, valor, teamwork, and tradition are core tenets of military culture. But US military leaders seem to be doing serious work to erode these values and much more. Tune in and get Amber's insights mixed in with Zach and Brandon's personal perspectives over their last 15 years of military service. This is one you DO NOT want to miss! You can pre-order Amber's new book wherever books are sold! Derrick's farm employs specific tech to track cow health and milk production so that his cows get the very best treatment and attention. S2 Ep 48"Are We The Bad Guys?" with Adam DeRito
EAdam DeRito joins the show! Adam has one of the most fascinating, complex, and flat out WILD backstories we've ever heard. Adam is currently a US Army Reservist and Intelligence Analyst. He is also the host of the investigative journalism podcast "Dark Sabre Podcast".In this episode we discuss Adam's time at the US Air Force Academy (USAFA), being sexually assaulted by another student, and becoming an undercover informant for the Air Force "Office of Special Investigations". Shockingly, due to his role as an undercover informant, USAFA refused to let Adam graduate and commission as an Officer in the Air Force. This grotesque decision on behalf of USAFA sent Adam's life into free-fall. Now, very much back on his feet, Adam joins us to discuss his past, goals with "The DeRito Act", and to give extremely thoughtful insights into global geopolitical issuesAdditionally, we delve into corruption within the US military and the need for legislative change. We provide insights into the history and complexities of Russia-Ukraine relations and the Syrian civil war. The conversation explores the cultural differences between Russia and the US, as well as Russia's influence in the Middle East. It contrasts Russia's approach with China's long-term plan for global dominance and the impact on traditional values and cultural preservation. The conversation covers a range of political topics, including the State of the Union, concerns about election rigging, and the role of the media in shaping public opinion. The discussion also touches on the importance of rational conversations and the need for leaders who support American values and prioritize the economy, military, and border security. The conversation concludes with a focus on preserving the American way of life and the importance of personal responsibility in speaking out against corruption and injustice. _____________________________________________PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR SPONSORS:ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Skull & Crossbeans Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. S2 Ep 47"Forged In Fire" with Ian Roland
EWe welcome US Air Force Security Forces member Ian Roland to the show! For those unaware, Security Forces members act as Military Police for the Air Force. But, Security Forces members, or "Defenders" as they are often called, have a much more diverse mission set than people realize. They guard all Air Force installations home and abroad, provide security for our nation's nuclear force, operate in Law Enforcement capacities, support "Fly Away" security missions, and also support Air Force Special Operators as DAGREs. But, thats not why Ian jumped at the opportunity to come on the podcast! For this episode, Mental Health is the focus! Ian, Brandon, and Zach dive in on the stigmas behind seeking mental health help, especially in the military. Ian discusses a lot of his own traumas in life, how they've come forward more now as a husband and father, how the military has both hindered and helped Ian in confronting some hard things, and finally making the decision to seek help! Additionally, both Brandon and Zach share a lot of their own struggles with difficult responses and treatment they've gone through. Mental Health is a huge topic with a wide variety of conversational topics, but a couple we want to highlight most are ending stigmas and building true resiliency. Whether its post-traumatic stress from responses on duty, childhood trauma, struggles at home, struggles in our relationships, etc...these all play a heavy factor in our mental state. One of the biggest factors this episode tries to drive home is that men need to be better at supporting one another along the journey toward getting help for the mental health issues we tend to bury inside. If you need help, do not be afraid to reach out. The resources are there. Your friends and family are there. All of us would rather listen to you and give you a massive hug than listen to your eulogy and lay flowers on your grave. There is nothing wrong with seeking help and no one is a burden! You can dial "988" or "1-800-273-8255" from your phone and reach the National Suicide Hotline at any time, day or night. ________________________________________ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Skull & Crossbeans Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. S2 Ep 46"Stone Echoes of the Maya" with Luke Caverns
ELuke is recently returned from his expedition to the Peten jungle of Central America, where he amazingly discovered a long forgotten Mayan city. Luke describes the Peten as "a jungle landscape of ruins, like a pin cushion with no more room for pins to push in". Maya civilization was grander, larger and more populated than any modern city of the modern age. In this episode Luke discusses the mysterious, innovative, beautiful, and violent Maya civilization. Much of Mayan history has sadly been lost to time due to the destructiveness of Spanish conquerors, disease, jungle overgrowth, and the failures of modern native communities to discover and educate the world. When Francisco de Orellana first entered the "New World", he returned home with tales of endless cities filled with millions of people, pyramids, and a thriving culture among the jungles of Central and South America. But, when other explorers returned, they found no such evidence and branded Orellana a liar and his statements hyperbolic at best. But now, thanks to explorers like Luke and modern technology, we are realizing the Maya were so much more. How did the Maya collapse? Why were the Maya fascinated with time and astronomy? What role do psychedelics play in a relationship between ancient Greece and the Maya? What significance did the Library of Alexandria play in the ancient world? Why did the Maya and ancient Egypt create enigmatic megalithic sarcophagi? Did the Maya make contact with ancient Mediterranean cultures like the Egyptians? And why are their so many religious, cultural, and architectural similarities between these cultures? All this and more on this awesome episode!Don't forget to check out Luke's original series, "Jungle of Stone" on YouTube and find him on his social media platforms!________________________ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Skull & Crossbeans Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. S2 Ep 44UFOs: Contact & Cover Ups with Leslie & Stephen Shaw
ELeslie and Stephen Shaw, authors of 'Who They Are and What They're Up To,' discuss their experiences with UFO sightings and the abduction phenomenon. The Shaws also explore their theories on flood myths, genetic bottlenecking, and an advanced civilization that may have existed prior to a catastrophic event. They discuss the connections between ancient texts, such as the Sumerian tablets, and biblical accounts, including the Tower of Babel. This part of the conversation explores the theory that a strain of humanity split from the rest of the population and went underground 13,000 years ago. The Shaw's further discuss the many races of alien beings, their purpose on Earth, and also several government cover ups that have occurred keeping UFO information under wraps. Stephen Shaw has been a lifelong experiencer of the UFO phenomenon and recounts many of his personal stories, to include incidents that occurred within his lineage. The Shaws, and many other researchers believe, that abduction and UFO contact very often stays within family lines. Stephen is an example of this. In this new conversation, the guys and David explore the changes in US-China relations, China's domestic crisis, and the shift in how China is viewed by the West. David delves into China's propaganda and optics, as well as the Eastern vs Western mindset. Currently, China faces an impending housing market crisis. David discusses its impact on the Chinese economy and how eventually, their economy will collapse. David explains how the uncontrolled expansion of capital, mandatory financial benchmarks, the crackdown on Chinese CEOs, and the expectation of loyalty to the party have created a defective foundation for the Chinese economy.Due to fears of disloyalty and unwillingness to reunite Taiwan with China, Xi Jinping initiated a purge of General Officers within the PLA's "Rocket Force". More suspicion is raised with the disappearance of the Chinese Defense and Foreign Ministers. Subsequently, David again discusses the abhorrent organ harvesting practices that have taken place in China over the last several decades. The conversation concludes with China's dwindling influence on the Belt and Road Initiative, potential conflict between the United States and China, the battle between good and evil, the impact of China's atheistic ideology, and the legacy of Chinese leaders.TakeawaysUS-China relations have undergone changes, with a focus on domestic issues in China.China's propaganda and optics play a significant role in shaping its image and reputation. There is a shift in how China is viewed by the West, with a greater understanding of its influence and integration into global affairs.China's projection of power and its attempts to control narratives are explored. The housing collapse in China and its impact on the economy are discussed.Organ harvesting is a serious issue in China, where the government targets certain groups for their organs.China's Belt and Road Initiative is a money-draining machine that aims to buy influence but is not a money-making machine, putting China into further financial burden. The United States and China are on a path towards conflict, similar to the Thucydides Trap.China's atheistic ideology has led to a lack of hope and a materialistic view of life.ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Skull & Crossbeans Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. Zach hits Brandon up about what he'll miss the most after almost 2 decades in Air Force, so naturally the dudes complain about the Finance Office and reminisce about all the amazing friends and ridiculous shenanigans they've gotten into. What is the ketchup packet game? What happened to MH370? Why were our ancient ancestors so enamored with the night sky? Just how scary are Orcas? And a ton of crazy stories about military service and the half-wits in uniform we came to love. All that and more in this latest installment of Popcorn Podcast, "New Year, Same Guys". ______________________________ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Skull & Crossbeans Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. S2 Ep 37"What Is An Act Of War?"
EThe definition of an "act of war" is intentionally vague. The old saying that "war never changes" is challenged as technology becomes increasingly complex. Cyber attacks can render physical infrastructure useless and Artificial Intelligence confuses people every day--how do we redefine "acts of war" in our modern era? Is the United States already in the midst of a "Cold Civil War"?In this episode, Brandon and Zach discuss the concept of an act of war and how it is currently defined. They explore the process of declaring war and the role of the United Nations in international conflicts. The guys also delve into the "Authorization for Use of Military Force" and the "War Powers Resolution". Furthermore, they emphasize the importance of deterrence and what the United States' role is as a global superpower. Additionally, they outline the eight preconditions for the use of deadly force and discuss cyber attacks on national critical infrastructure. This part of the conversation focuses on ransomware attacks, the impact of the "Colonial Pipeline" attack, appropriate responses to cyber attacks, probing and cyber attacks as acts of war, national preparedness for cyber attacks and national infrastructure disruptions. Brandon & Zach use the "Stuxnet" worm attack on Iran as an example for how physically destructive cyber attacks can be and exhibit Chinese spyware on US military laptops as a reason the US Military needs to practice better self-preservation. This part of the conversation explores the topics of nation-state espionage, vulnerabilities in cybersecurity, and the need for defining acts of war in cyberspace. The guys also discuss the SolarWinds ransomware attack within the US Government and the potential impact of AI in warfare. Zach and Brandon discuss "Rules of Engagement" and the "Use of Force", as well as the restrictions on social media use in the military. They discuss concerns about the use of TikTok and its potential impact on national security. The conversation then shifts to the concept of a "Cold Civil War" in the United States, where the two major political parties are at odds with each other while the American people are used as pawns. Lastly, they emphasize the importance of being prepared and the need to "Fortify all Fronts" in order to be ready for any situation.______________________________ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Skull & Crossbeans Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. S2 Ep 33"Not Your Average Joe" with Joe "Jody" Daniels
EWe welcome to the show Joe "Jody" Daniels, a US Air Force Veteran of the Cold War and like Brandon & Zach, a military policeman. When you use the colloquial term "Renaissance Man", Jody is the embodiment of that sentiment. As Seneca the Younger, the Stoic philosopher, once said: "Man's ideal state is realized when he has fulfilled the purpose for which he is born. And what is it that reason demands of him? Something very easy-that he live in accordance with his own nature." In modernity, this quote is about men like Jody, whose principles stand under pressure, who understands that the obstacle is the path, and hard work leads to freedom. In this episode, the guys sit down and discuss Jody's life, what he's accomplished, and what he still has left on the table. The prevailing conversation turns to American nihilism and first world comforts corrupting minds, bodies, and lifestyles. We discuss the hypocrisy of our modern society, how its eroding the strengths at the core of American principles, and what we need to do to get back on the path. Don't miss this fantastic conversation on real, American issues, blazing your own path, and being grateful for the opportunity to show up and just DO. S2 Ep 32Matt Against The Mandate with Matthew Harris (USAF)
EWe welcome to the show Matthew Harris, a US Air Force Security Forces Member (Military Police) and friend of both Brandon & Zach. Like so many other military members across the DoD, Matt had questions and concerns when, a few years ago, the DoD demanded its members receive the jab or face separation from service. For many service members, the decision to get it was simple and many did as they were asked. Yet, for a small number, the demand did not make sense. It seemed more politically charged than what was medically best. More importantly, it went against their morals and values. During the period of time where Matt was standing up for his beliefs and trying to navigate through his decision to refuse, he was consistently cut down, told he was a bad person and poor leader, told he was harming the mission, and all in all was "othered" as so often happens when people go against the flow. We thank Matt so much for joining us, sharing the journey he was on, why he refused, what it was like dealing with condescending unit leadership during this time, why he believes in what he did, and what got him through it. We certainly believe in Matt and are proud to call him a friend and a brother, not just in arms, but as family. Matt's story is so important and exhibits what it means to stand up and look adversity in the face. Listen to Matt's story and understand what happened from not just a unique perspective, but from the perspective of someone with steadfast mental and moral fortitude. You can find Matt on Instagram @harrisdakid1_______________________ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Red Clover Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. S2 Ep 30"Borderline with Vince Vargas"
EVince “Rocco” Vargas is a US Army Ranger Veteran, Border Patrol Veteran, and author of the new book, “Borderline: Defending The Homefront”. In this episode we discuss Vince’s upbringing, how his new book (out on November 14th) highlights the role of Border Patrol, the ongoing problems at the US Southern Border with Mexico, and why we need to pay attention to this issue. The border presents a variety complex problems requiring both security posture and empathy. It is not often that these two concepts converge, but the dichotomy Border Patrol Agents and Americans face requires bipartisan action. Make sure you give this important episode a listen, hear what Vince has to say about the difficulties allowing illegal immigration to persist, why the system aiding those seeking asylum is broken, and how the system encourages people to go around legal methods of immigration. bonusE"I Came With Fire Podcast's" first ever "After Fire Embersode"!In these "Embersodes", Zach & Brandon do an instant react to the conversation they just had on the full episode. They give insight not mentioned on the full episode, discuss other relevant topics, and give candid thoughts and opinions on the topic at hand and the way the conversation went down.No episode is scripted, but every episode is planned with a template in mind with how each conversation could go. These "Embersodes" are completely raw, unfiltered, and without any guidelines. This is just Brandon & Zach at their best.In this one, the guys discuss the now famous photo of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, seated in what appears to be a SCIF, looking defeated and tired. The photo described now, perhaps not so hyperbolically, as "The first man to know about World War III". "I Came With Fire Podcast" does not condone genocide/terrorism in any form & believes war should be avoided at ALL COSTS. Peace should always be the first option in any conflict. The views expressed herein do not necessarily reflect the personal views of the hosts or their guests. All perspectives deserve a voice in order to avoid further and greater conflict. Viewer discretion is advised. ****DISCLAIMER****This is the first ever "Special Release" of "I Came With Fire Podcast"! This episode was not predicted nor advertised...but, current events demand a conversation! Stay tuned in the future for more "Special Release" episodes."I Came With Fire Podcast" is joined again by Christopher Messina, owner of Tanbreez, the worlds largest rare earth mineral mine, host of the "Messy Times Show", and writer for the "Brownstone Institute".In this emotional episode, Christopher discusses some brief history of the Israel & Palestine conflict, the Zionist movement, personal opinions and experiences, and hopes to dispel some of the misinformation existing about Israel and the Jewish people as a whole. Furthermore, Christopher provides insight into why he feels the events of October 7th, 2023 are the exact events that will set off "World War III".Throughout history, certain events have proven to be the "points of no return" toward global conflict. Whether it be the assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand preempting WWI, the German invasion of Poland preempting WW2, or "insert event here", preempting WW3...there will be a day and time recorded in the history books as the "event" that kicked off all the chaos. We sincerely hope the events of October 7th are not such events and hope peace can be established. We also endorse only those armed actions/conflicts that exist fully within the "Law of Armed Conflict" (LOAC).We will continue to invite and talk with others from different perspectives, as again, all perspectives should be heard to remain as objective as possible and to help avoid further and greater conflict through knowledge and conversation.Ensure you also check out the FIRST EVER "After Fire Empersode" after you listen to this episode with Christopher Messina! S2 Ep 22"Senatus PopulusQue Americanus" w/The Cognitive Marine
EHow often do you think about the Roman Empire? Pretty often, if you asked me. The Roman Empire has become the metric for comparisons of other empires throughout history. Most recently, the British Empire and the United States of America. This week we sit with "The Cognitive Marine" to discuss the parallels. "The Cognitive Marine", as he goes by, is a Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel with more than 20 years of active military service. Rome is his passion and so too is the United States. Naturally, the comparisons between Rome and the United States are many. Both Rome and the United States were founded by dispossessed peoples of a different empire, they both threw off the yoke of tyrannical kings to form republics, and both have seen the assassinations of populist leaders seeking to rectify issues stemming from social and economic disorder. The American Founding Fathers even reference the Roman Republic many times in the founding of their own Republic. This is a very short list of comparisons, with much more, and some eerily similar. Will the United States go the way of Rome? Or can it fix itself to prevent it's own demise?ICWF Podcast is sponsored by "Red Clover Coffee", a veteran owned, small batch roasted coffee company. S2 Ep 19"The Lie of Reality" with Dr. Donald D. Hoffman
EDo our eyes deceive us? According to our guest, yes they do--and its by design. Why do some, seemingly thriving species, suddenly go extinct while others do not? Are we living within the walls of an intelligently designed simulation? Or are we living in a "reality" of our own mind's creation? And what does that mean for man's search for meaning and the significance we put in our own mortality?Dr. Donald D. Hoffman is a cognitive psychologist and popular science author. He is a professor in the Department of Cognitive Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, with joint appointments in the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science, and the School of Computer Science. Dr. Hoffman is the author of "The Case Against Reality", which argues that our human perceptions have evolved to hide objective reality from us. This episode is one of our deepest yet! Dr. Hoffman is a truly remarkable human being on the cutting edge of his field. In this episode, Brandon flies solo with Zach stranded at an airport somewhere in the Great State of Texas. This conversation with Dr. Hoffman was absolutely mind-blowing! Aside from this episode, you can find Dr. Hoffman on other podcasts like Lex Fridman and Tom Bilyeu or via his now famous TED Talk! S2 Ep 17"I Came With A Mess" w/Christopher Messina, CEO of Tanbreez World's Largest Rare Earth Mineral Mine
EOn this episode Brandon & Zach talk with Christopher Messina, someone who truly embodies what it means to be a "Renaissance Man". On top of hosting his own Podcast, "The Messy Times Show", Christopher sits on the Board of Directors for the US Air Force Combat Control Foundation, and is the CEO of "Tanbreez": the world's largest rare earth mineral mine. Probably one of the most interesting tidbits about owning the world's largest Rare Earth Mineral mine (aside from all the rare earth minerals), is that Tanbreez is located in Greenland and it is for that reason that President Donald Trump made an offer to purchase the country of Greenland just to have the mineral deposits! In this episode the guys discuss why rare earth minerals are so vital to United States trade, foreign policy, and supply chain. Furthermore, what it really means for the global stage to reap these minerals and for what benefit. As the world leans more and more into advanced technology, rare earth minerals will vastly become of more strategic import. Harvesting, using, and cornering the market on them will command more than serious control for the United States. It means should the Chinese flood the market on these minerals to reduce their value, the United States would remain largely unaffected and can outpace the Chinese nearly 800 to 1. Now, all the United States needs to do is act. Join us for a fantastic episode as we discuss this, Christopher's unique and heartbreaking experience of walking away from the September 11, 2001 tragedy, and how he's managed to walk away from four other terrorist bombings! You don't want to miss this one! "I Came With Fire Podcast" is sponsored by Red Clover Coffee. Red Clover is a veteran owned coffee company that also happens to donate to some pretty great charities. S2 Ep 15"China's TikToking Clock" with David Zhang from "China Insider"
ECurrently, a massive power struggle is going on between the United States and China. For many decades, the relationship between the Chinese and United States has been strained, with the US hoping that cooperation and free markets would create an American and Chinese partnership rooted in mutual benefit. However, this was not the case nor the plan of what would eventually be known as the Chinese Communist Party, or "CCP". Over the past 20+ years, the United States has been bogged down and focused on war in the Middle East. It's longest war, ever. The Chinese have diligently used that time to commit espionage, theft, and undermine the US as the global hegemon. This has now become very apparent with Chinese technological advances, a military growing at an alarming rate, and it's attempt to begin replacing the US dollar as the worlds global currency. On the surface, this may seem frightening and with genuine reason. However, is China truly the rising superpower it claims to be and the global media portrays it as? We talk with David Zhang from "China Insider" to discuss the reality, disabuse misinformation, highlight terrible Chinese human rights violations, organ harvesting, CCP rise to power and corruption, its crumbling economy, failure to respect, feed, and care for its citizens, and its global initiatives to destabilize the West. David is a journalist, former writer for The Epoch Times, and focuses heavily on spreading truth about the CCP ands abuses. China and the United States will be a topic the world discusses at length for the foreseeable future. With a new Cold War heating up and China's authoritarian plan to become the sole global superpower by 2049, seeking accurate information and truth are more vital than ever. Don't miss this crucial episode. We learned so much and we know you will too. "I Came With Fire Podcast" is sponsored by Red Clover Coffee. S2 Ep 13"Ruby Ridge: Government Overreach" with Robert Renfrow
EIn August of 1992, Randy Weaver's family came under siege by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). The 11 day siege would come to be known as the "Ruby Ridge Incident". During the Ruby Ridge Incident, Randy's wife Vicki, their 14 year old son Samuel, and the family dog, Striker, were killed. Additionally, United States Marshall William Degen also lost his life. When you listen you will hear how the ATF committed crimes to entrap Randy Weaver, how they stalked him and his family for months prior to forced contact, and how Randy Weaver successfully sued the US Government and was awarded a settlement of $3.1 million dollars for their agencies' wrongdoings. However, the most important piece not to be overlooked, is how much the FBI and the ATF tried to cover up their mistakes to mask the truth about what happened over those 11 days and even issued awards to those involved. Furthermore, several of the agents involved were also later responsible during the large scale disaster in Waco, Texas with David Koresh's "Branch Davidians". In this episode we host Robert Renfrow, a retired US Air Force Security Forces Senior Master Sergeant and friend of Randy Weaver. Rob does an excellent job at giving us an account of who Randy really was and helps to humanize a man often demonized by mainstream media. S2 Ep 12"Defending Simulations" with Trent Seegmiller, Host of "OnesReady Podcast"
EThis is by far our most broad episode yet! Trent is an Air Force Special Reconnaissance Operator and Host of "OnesReady Podcast", Air Force Special Warfare's Flagship Podcast!Trent is such an interesting person who definitely left us thinking after our episode. For quite a while the idea has existed that what we call "Life" is actually just a simulation or a program we are all designed to engage with and believe in. Is this true? Trent makes one of the best arguments for it I've ever heard. A little unsettling perhaps...or maybe comforting? You be the judge. Or is ignorance bliss?Mankind is on the brink of some massive shifts--whether that's consciousness shifts or the knowledge that we're not alone in the Universe. One thing is for certain...that shift is happening and we're right in the middle of it! Don't miss this one, keep your mind open, and maybe even get it blown! S2 Ep 11"UAPs, Sex Cults, and the Imperial Japanese Fleet", ICWF Popcorn Podcast# 2!
EThis is the second installment of Popcorn Podcast! If you're unfamiliar, Zach and Brandon go into these episodes blind, with questions the other is unprepared for to ensure you get the most organic, hilarious, and authentic responses possible!Over the course of nearly 80 years, the US Air Force and it's members have had encounters with Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon (UAPs). Whether they were pulling security at a missile site, flying a jet through unknown airspace, or running radar on a distant flight line, UAPs seem to find Airmen. Some of the most well recognized and documented cases of UAP contact involve the Air Force's Security Forces Airmen (Brandon & Zach included!). If you've never heard of the Rendlesham Forest, UK incident or the incident at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, then stay tuned...because they're doozies! On the subject of aerial phenomena, what does the religion of Thelema have to do with modern rocket science? And what did Aleister Crowley do to spur on young rocket scientist Jack Parsons that drove him into madness? Oddly enough...it seems the stars, sex cults, and the Occult inspired not only American rocket scientists...but Russian ones too. Enter: Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. What did Parsons and Tsiolkovsky have in common and how did they both help to endure two separate modern "religions"? These and so much more can be found on the guy's second installment of Popcorn Podcast! Don't miss it! "I Came With Fire Podcast" is sponsored by Red Clover Coffee. S2 Ep 10"Be Sneaky" with Dr. Sean McFate, Strategist & Expert on Foreign Relations
EDr. Sean McFate is a foreign policy expert, author and novelist. He is a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, a Washington DC think tank, and a Professor of Strategy at the National Defense University and Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Additionally, he serves as an Advisor to Oxford University’s Centre for Technology and Global Affairs. Dr. McFate began his career in the US Army and transitioned into a private military contractor and paramilitary. Among his many experiences, he dealt with African warlords, raised armies for U.S. interest, rode with armed groups in the Sahara, conducted strategic reconnaissance for the extractive industry, transacted arms deals in Eastern Europe, and helped prevent an impending genocide in the Rwanda region. In this episode, Dr. McFate discusses where he thinks global conflict is heading and why the United States cannot stop "preparing for the last war". In his book "The New Rules of War", Dr. McFate argues that waging conventional war the way the United States does is a fatal mistake. S2 Ep 8"Beyond The Pokedex: Mysteries of The Missing 411"
EWelcome back to another captivating episode of "I Came With Fire Podcast"! In this episode we are taking you down a pretty gnarly rabbit hole: The Missing 411. Popularized and coined by David Paulides, The Missing 411 chronicles some odd and downright scary disappearances inside of North America's National Parks and highlights a potential conspiracy in covering up these disappearances and their culprit(s). Tonight's episode begins with Mr. Paulides' venture "The CANAM Project". Named for the nations of Canada and the United States, The CANAM Project seeks to shed light on these disappearances plaguing National Parks within the respective nations. David was first approached about these disappearances by a Park Ranger, who gave him a list of incidents and told him about how the National Park Service was allegedly covering up these disappearances. Seeking to get to the bottom of the problem, David submitted multiple "Freedom Of Information Act" (FOIA) requests but was met with refusals and demands for insurmountable sums of money for the information he was requesting. Tonight, we go over just a few of these eerie disappearances and tell you about why they are so creepy and mysterious. First, there are some odd themes between quite a few of these cases: for many of these disappearances, dog teams are called in to search but are unable to pick up the scents of the missing or lead Search and Rescue (SAR) teams to locations that make no sense. In one case, a set of dogs led SAR teams to a cliff face. Thinking these dogs made a mistake, the SAR team brought in another set of dogs who repeated the actions of the first...leading them to a sheer cliff face. Another theme is that when someone's remains or belongings are found, they are typically found in an area already covered by SAR teams. Furthermore, these remains or belongings are found seemingly placed in manners as if the missing person simply set their items down and wandered away into nothingness. In a wide range of those who's remains are found, the same type of bodily remains are recovered. The skull caps and teeth are left behind. What is causing these odd disappearances? Why is there seemingly a conspiracy to hide information about these missing persons? Why do many of these people go missing mere feet from their camping/hiking groups? And why are some National Park Rangers claiming they're encouraged to dissuade search efforts for the missing? Check this episode out if you love a good spook, have an interest in the strange and macabre, and definitely before you go on that hike into your nearest National Park. S2 Ep 7"Do What Makes You Happy" with Dan Schilling, US Army/Air Force Special Operations Officer & Author
EDan Schilling is absolutely what you would call a Renaissance Man. One of his mantras is "Reinvent Yourself"--and that is exactly what Dan does. You see, Dan is no ordinary person, at least to us (and thousands of others). At the beginning of his 30 year military career, Dan made the choice to join the US Army as an Infantryman. He then found out how cool "Pro Pay" was, along with just how much of a badass you get to be as an Air Force Special Operations Combat Controller, and then made the best decision of his life: to switch branches and join the US Air Force. Dan made it through the rigorous Combat Controller pipe-line and came out on the other side ready to take on the world. All that aside, Dan is one of the most humble and down to Earth people we've ever talked to. His words are rife with wisdom, intelligence, and humor. Have you ever seen the movie "Black Hawk Down"? A lot of people have. Long story short, it chronicles the men on Operation Gothic Serpent, where multiple Black Hawk helicopters were downed in the Somalian city of Mogadishu, and a daring operation to tag a violent warlord became a thing of legend. Dan was there, as a US Air Force Special Tactics Officer (Combat Controller). And NO ONE on the field of battle, since the beginning of human warfare, is more lethal than a US Air Force Combat Controller. Dan has also stood up multiple Special Operations Squadrons, commanded them, and retired as Lieutenant Colonel. This snapshot of Dan's military career, as he would say, are just "things I did, not who I am". After reading a couple of his books and spending two hours talking with him, its easy to see what he means. As you may have guessed, Dan is also an author--and a damn good one. His most acclaimed book is "Alone At Dawn: Medal of Honor Recipient John Chapman and the Untold Story of the World's Deadliest Special Operations Force", a book detailing the life of Air Force Master Sergeant (MSgt) John Chapman, Medal of Honor Recipient and Hero and also the tale of the most unsung Special Operators ever. You can find "Alone At Dawn" and Dan's other books wherever books are sold. We cannot recommend them enough. When Dan isn't absolutely hauling ass down the side of a mountain wearing a pair of skis and a parachute, he spends his time helping the military community understand what resilience looks like, is working on a screenplay, working towards making a movie about MSgt John Chapman, and coming on podcasts with a couple Air Force dudes (us, of course). Yes, you read that right too...skis and a parachute. Apparently, for Dan, sky-diving is too boring now. I guess when you're the World Record Holder for most base jumps, that makes sense. Dan won't admit it, but he is a giant amongst men and we will be forever grateful he decided to spend a couple hours talking to us on this episode. Don't miss this one...it really may change your life. S2 Ep 6"Do Your Job" with Air Force Special Ops Combat Controller CMSgt Rob Gutierrez
EIn this episode of I Came With Fire, get ready to be inspired as we delve into the remarkable career of Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt) Robert Gutierrez, US Air Force Special Operations Combat Controller (CCT)--a true hero in the world of Air Force Special Operations. We explore the vivid details of Rob's experiences as a Combat Controller, his valiant actions through numerous life-threatening operations, and his being awarded the Air Force Cross, an award second only to the Congressional Medal of Honor. As a CMSgt, Chief Gutierrez stands at the pinnacle of the enlisted ranks, showcasing his exceptional leadership and expertise. His career as a Combat Controller has been nothing short of awe-inspiring, marked by relentless dedication, and an indomitable spirit. We discuss the mission where Chief Gutierrez found himself gravely wounded, facing a dire situation that would test his resolve like never before. He recounts the harrowing moments of having his collapsed lung decompressed (twice!), and still summoning the strength to call in danger close Close-In Air Support (CAS), saving the lives of everyone around him and destroying the enemy. Chief Gutierrez's mental fortitude in doing his job under unimaginable circumstances is a testament to his unparalleled bravery and dedication to duty. We also take a step back in time as Chief Gutierrez shares his personal journey to joining the Air Force. Inspired by the devastation of September 11, 2001, Chief Gutierrez literally quit his job checking electrical meters (without a back-up plan), immediately found an Air Force Recruiter, and began training to enter Air Force Special Warfare as a Combat Controller. Chief Gutierrez discusses the challenges faced by candidates in the CCT and Pararescue Jumper (PJ) pipelines and emphasizes that the success in these pipelines goes beyond physical strength or prowess; it demands determination, willpower, and GRIT. Just because you may be the strongest person or the fastest runner, does not mean you have what it takes to make it through the training pipeline. Chief Gutierrez points out that the high attrition rates in the selection process are a testament to the demanding nature of the pipeline, providing the lethal exclusivity of Air Force Special Warfare. The guys also touch on how CCT fits into the "future fight", exploring the differences between the United States and peer adversaries like the Chinese. American innovation, combat experience, resilience, and breaking the will of our enemies, are discussed. Wrapping up the conversation, the guys discuss the importance of every role in the AF, patience when learning how to execute tasks, and the significance of teamwork and contribution.
