Future Islands is a band whose new album, People Who Aren't There Anymore, is out in January on 4AD. We spoke with Sam, their singer, about used puffer jackets, a punk rock museum in Las Vegas, Celine discovered Dimes Square, when they started taking a cut from merch sales, memoirs, living in New Orleans, a lot of knee talk, he seems to live in crab-adjacent cities, he has an old uncle whos also a performer, being 1/4 Filipino, opening for Morrissey, walking through the snow for soup, numbing the pain, which stocks he's lost money on, being addicted to anxiety, and their new record.
