bonus

For the next few weeks, we will be highlighting some of our favorite shows from our friends over at the Dressage Today Podcast!Welcome to a “mindful” episode of the Dressage Today Podcast, sponsored by the Horse Care Loyalty Rewards Program.  Hosts Stephanie Ruff and Aviva Nebesky first discuss their ideas of what makes a good student, and then Aviva talks about her favorite test and level to judge in her “Ask the L” segment. They interview Chelsea Canedy about her road to enlightenment and how that has influenced her professional career as a dressage and event rider. Chelsea grew up in Connecticut where she was a member of Litchfield Pony Club, earning her H-A certificate before leaving for college. After riding throughout college, she moved to Northeast Tennessee, where her eyes were opened to some horsemanship ideas and tools that she had never seen before. Clint Summers' Crunch-Time NFR Push - The Score from The Team Roping Journal

bonus

Clint Summers was outside the Top 15 until the last run of the last rodeo of the 2023 ProRodeo regular season. The NFR switchender needed to spin his final-round steer for Jake Long in 3.6 seconds or less to move into the Top 15 headers in the world, and he had to jump out of his just-use-your-horse-and-catch mindset to lay it all on the line. Lay it all on the line he did, with the flag falling in exactly 3.6 seconds to get Summers to the Finals with Long. Along the way, Summers learned a lot about his abilities, relied on some talented horsepower and drove a lot of miles in the pickup. In this episode, we check in with Summers after the dust settled on the head side as he prepares for his third NFR, and second on the head side. If you don't know Clint Summers' full life story, listen to our first episode with him here.———This episode is presented by Gold Buckle Horse Sales.

HITM for October 3, 2023: Can We Solve the Veterinarian Shortage Problem by American Horse Council

bonus

According to a 2019 American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Equine Economic Survey Report, most equine veterinarians knew they wanted to be a vet before the age of 10. So many choose this career path because of a calling they felt, and a passion and love for the horse. Still, many areas of the United States and beyond currently face a shortage of equine practitioners to provide veterinary care to horses and other equids. This equine welfare issue will only further intensify without action to address the diminishing number of equine veterinarians. The key factors the AAEP identified that are contributing to the dilemma are: compensation, strategies for effective emergency coverage, workplace/practice culture, internships and supporting the growth and development of the equine veterinary student. This month’s podcast shines a light on what the AAEP and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) are doing to help address the issue to help current veterinarians and encourage the growth of the future.HORSES IN THE MORNING Episode 3277  – Show Notes and Links:Your Hosts: Julie Broadway (President) and Megan Arszman (Marketing & Communications) of the American Horse CouncilSponsored by: Equine Discounts with NTRAGuest: David Foley from the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP)Guest: Drs.
