Week 1 – Forgiven
As people, we all know what it’s like to question who we are and what our purpose is. But what about the identity of Jesus? Do we know who He is? The real Jesus not just the image we have of Him? His identity changes everything about who we are trying to be as Christians.
- You don’t work for your forgiveness. You work from your forgiveness.
Genesis 1:26-27 (NLT) God gave humans our intended identity from the very beginning.
We were created to know God, to be in relationship with God and to be like God.
Genesis 3:6-7 (NLT) With sin, we replace the identity God gave us and trade it in for shame.
Jesus came to fix the world.
Jesus said, “Neither do I (condemn you),” which is Grace.
Jesus said, “Go and sin no more,” which is Truth.
Here are a few lessons from this passage:
1. Put down your rock.
2. Eventually, it’s going to be just you and Jesus standing together.
3. Jesus does not punish you because he was punished for you.
4. Jesus forgives sin.
You don’t work for your forgiveness. You work from your forgiveness.
