Holistic psychology helps certain individuals step away from medication and treat chronic disease and anxiety naturally.Much like holistic medicine, holistic psychiatry takes a step back and asks the question, “why?”
Psychiatrists look at the root cause of various symptoms to see if something like a micronutrient deficiency or inter-generational trauma is causing a person's pain or anxiety. By digging deeper and finding answers, psychiatrists are able to skip medication for certain patients and take a more holistic, natural approach to treatment.
In her recent book, Own Your Self, Dr. Kelly Brogan explains how many individuals -- if not all -- struggle with victim consciousness. People are comfortable living in the victim mentality about things big and small and feel validated by being right about being wronged. She explains how people can step out of that trap and inhabit a worldview that cultivates self-love and personal liberation through forgiveness, visualization techniques, and mind/body connection exercises.
Listen as Kelly joins Dr. Taz to discuss holistic psychology.
