Show Notes
The First Ecumenical Council, or world-wide synod, which took place at Nicaea in modern day Turkey, involved many of the biggest names of the day and really turned the Roman world on its head. Christianity, which was a heavily persecuted religion, became the preferred religion of the Empire all in the course of a few short years. The foundations of Christianity needed to be solidified though if it was to become the unifying force in the Roman Empire.
