We are joined again by Marco Cappelli of the Storia D’Italia podcast to talk about one of the key events that impacted the Roman Papacy during the 19th century, the Risorgimento. The Risorgimento or Italian Unification pitted conservatives vs liberals vs centrists vs revolutionaries. It wasn’t entirely clear who would win in this situation, especially with the influence of two huge powers, Austria and France.
