Hernando de Soto was a Spanish explorer and conquistador who led the first European expedition deep into the territory of the modern-day southeastern United States searching for gold and a passage to China from 1539-42. Along the way, he became the first European to cross the Mississippi River. Enjoy this ENCORE Presentation!
