Show Notes

For 300 years Mexico was known as "New Spain" ruled by a viceroy in the name of the Spanish monarch. The port of Acapulco became the New World terminus of the transpacific trade with the Philippines via the Manila galleon. Mexico thus became a vital link between Spain's New World domain and its East Indies Empire.
