After living in South Africa and experiencing apartheid, Ghandi returned to India to gain independence from British rule. The kid liked to walk around half naked and promote the revolutionary idea that you can fight for something in a peaceful way. As you may know Gandhi was jailed for organizing protests, boycotting courts and more. He would even protest by refusing to eat for days. He famously protested the British salt tax and embarked on a month long walk to the Arabian Sea with thousands of people. And won! What a guy! But he also did some not good things. In fairness, the settlers did try to take their land, so many raidings from the Indians and the new settlers that became the Plains Indian war starting in the 1850s. One of the most WILDEST stories was from Cynthia Ann Parker, a settler who was kidnapped in 1836, at age 10, by the Comanche war band. She lived with the Comanche people for 25 years learning the Comanche ways and forgetting English altogether. What is even WILDER what happens when her white family raids her tribe 25 years later? These ideas originated way before his fellow black leaders, Herman Cain, Allen West, and Clarence Thomas. It was the great Booker T Washington, who was once a slave and became an American educator, who believed that black people should not demand economic equality, but educational and slowly integrate. He was met with disagreement from other black leaders, specifically by W. E. B. Du Bois. Du Bois believed that whites would guarantee blacks to have political, economic and educational equality. The guys dig deeper into these ideas and make no mistake they discover that it doesn’t matter what you believe because reality is a suggestion!!! The boys talk about the disturbing incident that destroyed "The Black Wall Street" killing 300 African Americans and has largely been lost to history! Mobs of white people of Tulsa Oklahoma took the streets on May 31st and June 1st 1921 after a miscommunication of a white girl was assaulted by a black boy. The white mob attacked black residents and businesses of the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma resulting in the The Tulsa Race Massacre. It was SO BRUTAL but we question why this isn't common knowledge today?
