Ep 06: More than a Business: Teaching Dance as Lightwork with Kyra Birks

Episode 06 features special guest Kyra Birks, founder and owner of Paradise Dance Studio or “PDS” for short in Fremont, Ca. Her studio is called “paradise” dance studio because she has cultivated it to be “A Getaway” for dancers to create & express themselves! In this episode we dive into topics such as - full circle moments that help you realize your purpose - women's empowerment, and how challenging it can be in the dance industry - identity and passion exploration - what is lightwork and how can a dance teacher be a lightworker - and the importance of building your business for you and NOT to impress others. When Kyra and I sat down in her beautiful studio and recorded this podcast in Fall 2022, I was about halfway into my journey of running UPLIFT Community Wellness Studio in Merced. Now, at the time this is being released in Spring 2023, I just closed my physical studio in Merced and am pivoting to some varied offerings, including an online studio and seasonal women's empowerment events. You’ll hear us talking about both of our studios, but I definitely want y’all to listen in to these huge lessons and inspirations that have brought her to running her studio for over 5 years now!
