Social activist Angela Garbes, author of the upcoming book ESSENTIAL LABOR: Mothering as Social Change, joins Jessi to discuss the essential work of caretaking. Caring for a child, a parent, or a spouse while keeping up a career was a challenge even before the pandemic. But now? It’s a crisis. So many caretakers, especially women, have dropped out of the workforce because it’s just too much. Angela shares her own journey, talks about how her life has been changed by her "pandemic pod," and offers insights she's gained throughout the last few years.
