Our newsroom has confirmed the Finance Minister met heads of major Government departments today.
It's understood spending restraint was discussed.
Grant Robertson today warned the Government had hard choices ahead.
National's Nicola Willis says they believe things are much worse than forecast in the Budget.
"Grant Robertson has instructed public service leaders to batten down the hatches, desperately dig up some savings- because he's got an almighty gap in the Government books."
