Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) has announced the new National Concussion Guidelines for community sport.
These include when a player suffers a concussion, they must have a minimum period of 21 days away from full competition.
Sports Injury Research Expert Dr Doug King has said that people need to understand the severity of some head knocks that take place.
