A study of 3.5 million people just revealed something shocking: if you're constipated, your risk of kidney disease jumps by 13%, and your risk of kidney failure increases by 9%. And most doctors never make this connection.
Here's what's happening: when waste sits in your colon too long, harmful bacteria multiply and produce toxic compounds called uremic toxins. These toxins—especially one called p-cresyl sulfate—enter your bloodstream and travel directly to your kidneys, where they trigger inflammation and damage the filtering units called nephrons.
