In religious contexts, the term "Jezebel" is used to describe a manipulative and controlling spirit that undermines spiritual authority and a person's faith
. It is an allegorical concept, not a literal one, and is used to identify harmful patterns of behavior often seen in abusive relationships. Though named after the Old Testament Queen Jezebel, this "spirit" is believed to influence both men and women, not just women.
The "Jezebel spirit" is said to control a faithful "man of God" by exploiting his vulnerabilities and undermining his trust in God. This dynamic often requires a passive enabler, sometimes called an "
Jezabelles spirit," who tolerates the abuse
being trapped and harmed by people motivated by greed, money, and fame—is a serious form of abuse and exploitation
