The purpose for a smear campaign is to control you emotionally so that you believe you did something wrong
Forces to gang up on, harass, bully, intimidate and insult you while the narcissist gets to relax on the sidelines laughing away
The way you win is to NOT try to clear your name.
Instead, you keep your confidence, boundaries and self-esteem.
Once you keep your sanity (much easier said than done).
You then go on the offense by making fun of the narcissist (this especially works on covert narcissists who lack social skills) with the lie they said about you.
