- Imago Dei and human uniqueness:Christian thought asserts that humans are made in the image of God and have an intrinsic value that AI cannot replicate. This means that human dignity must be protected, and AI should not replace personal relationships or human agency.
- Stewardship: Humanity has a responsibility to steward technology wisely. The story of the Tower of Babel is sometimes used as a cautionary tale against using technology for human pride rather than for God's purposes.
- Moral and ethical alignment: True moral alignment is based on God's character and perfect nature, which AI cannot possess. AI is limited by the data and logic programmed by humans, meaning its algorithms can perpetuate and amplify existing human biases.
- Discernment: Believers are called to exercise discernment when engaging with AI, recognizing its potential for both good and evil. This includes using AI to advance Christian values like justice and compassion, while being aware of its potential for deception.
