Delaware - Ghosts of the First State

This episode delves into the folklore and legends surrounding some of the state's most famous haunted locations. First, we explore the eerie tales surrounding the Indian River Inlet Bridge, which spans the waterway between Bethany Beach and Dewey Beach. According to local lore, the bridge is haunted by the ghost of a construction worker who died during its construction. Next, we venture to Fort Delaware, a former Civil War prison on Pea Patch Island. The fort is said to be haunted by the spirits of Confederate soldiers who died during their imprisonment there. We hear from eyewitnesses who have experienced ghostly apparitions and unexplained phenomena while visiting this historic site. Moving on to the Woodburn Mansion in Wilmington, we learn about the legend of the ghostly woman who roams its halls. According to the story, a former mansion owner lost her husband and child in a tragic accident and now haunts the home in search of her lost loved ones. Finally, we explore the history and haunting of the Cannonball House in Lewes. The house is named for the cannonball lodged in its facade, a reminder of the home's role in the War of 1812. But the house has a much older history, dating back to the 18th century, that includes tales of murder, suicide, and hauntings. Join us as we delve into the folklore and legends behind these haunted locations and try to separate fact from fiction.
