Escaped Inmate: Search Underway for Nicole Besse
A 39-year-old woman, Nicole Besse, escaped from Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London early Monday morning while under treatment as an inmate. She managed to slip out of her wrist restraints around 4 a.m. and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans. Authorities have deployed search teams, including K-nine units from state police and the Department of Correction, as well as the fugitive investigations unit. Besse was held at York Correctional Institution on a first-degree failure to appear charge with a $6,000 bond since February 19th. If spotted, do not approach her, but call 911 immediately. The search for Besse continues.
