30-year-old Naabanyin Aniagyei-Cobbold from Connecticut sentenced to 9 years in prison for romance scam, defrauding victims of over $1.5 million. He operated fake company, Alpha Distributions LLC, and created phony profiles to trick people into sending cash. Victims, many older and on fixed incomes, faced financial ruin and emotional distress. Aniagyei-Cobbold also recruited and trained others for the scheme. Law enforcement continues to pursue these predators.
