Everybunny Counts Rabbit Rescue in Ellington, Connecticut, is expanding to accommodate a surge in surrender requests. The nonprofit, the states first standalone licensed facility for domestic rabbits, aims to add 2,800 square feet for daily operations and housing more rabbits. The expansion will include a sanctuary room, medical isolation unit, nursery, emergency intake spots, and boarding areas. The group has launched a fundraiser to cover higher rent, security upgrades, and state-required equipment, with the community already contributing nearly $9,000. Rabbits are the third most popular pet nationwide, but surrenders are rising, with over 300 requests since January 1st. The expansion aims to handle more urgent cases and support sanctuary bunnies that cant be adopted.
