How does your culture deal with death and grief?

In this episode, I'm joined by the amazing Joél Simone Anthony to discuss an overlooked issue: the different ways different cultures deal with grief and death. Joél, aka The Grave Woman, is a licensed funeral director, sacred grief practitioner, and educator, the founder of The Black Death, Grief, and Cultural Care Academy, and hosts the podcast "Death & Grief Talk with The Grave Woman."

Throughout our conversation, you'll hear about Jóel's passion for educating professionals about the importance of cultural competency, racial inclusion, and diversity in end-of-life, death, and grief care. Jóel also shares details of her first encounters with autopsies and embalming and how those experiences made her reflect on cultural differences and sensitivity to death care and funeral care practices.

Additionally, we allowed ourselves to rethink our disposition methods, including afterlife beliefs when thinking of funeral care practices, and more.

Tune in and listen to episode 200 and allow yourself to look at grief and loss from a completely different perspective.
