If you were a terminally ill patient, would you like to have autonomy over how, where, and when to transition?
Today, Dr. Pablo Stewart joins us to discuss a slightly different and super interesting topic: medical aid in dying. Dr. Pablo is a Psychiatrist at the renowned Queen's Medical Center who believes top-quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege. He is also a Clinical Professor and Psychiatrist at JABSOM, and he served in the Marines for five years as an infantry officer.
Throughout our conversation, Dr. Pablo explains what medical aid in dying is, the requirements patients must meet to qualify for it, and how, when, and where it takes place once approved. We discuss the autonomy and dignity the procedure grants to terminally ill patients and the possibility it gives them and their families to celebrate life.
Additionally, Dr. Pablo talks about the death parties we witnessed throughout his career, why he believes end-of-life care provides dignity and peace of mind to the patients who opt for it, and more.
