How prepared were you as a kid to deal with grief and loss? How ready do you feel your kids are to deal with it? 


In this episode, Katherine Pendergast and Lacie Brueckner join us to raise consciousness about the importance of supporting children through grief and loss. Katherine and Lacie co-authored "Goodbye, Bella: A Pet Loss Story," a story they created to help kids learn about loss and, through a beautiful story of love and compassion, raise awareness on the need to discuss death and grief with our children. Katherine is a Children's Author, Business Owner, Entrepreneur, Consultant, and Pet Therapy Handler who works with funeral directors at an insurance company. Lacie is a Funeral Director and Embalmer in rural North Dakota who received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science in 2005. She also co-authored "In Loving Memory: A Child's Journey to Understanding a Funeral and Starting the Grieving Process" alongside Katherine. 


Throughout this episode, you'll hear about Katherine and Lacie's thoughts on the need to discuss loss and grief with kids, their inspiration for her books, and their own experiences as kids with the loss of loved ones. They also share their opinions on whether kids should be allowed in funerals, how to explain happiness while grieving to kids, and more.
