Show Notes
From Great Lakes rescues to patrols during World War II, The Escanaba is the most famous cutter you’ve probably never heard of. Over 120 men were saved when the troopship Dorchester was sunk by a Nazi submarine on February 3rd, 1943. 101 of those men would be lost when the Esky itself exploded and sank. There has never been a conclusive answer to why it was lost, but this Mixtory shares some rare eyewitness accounts of the disaster.
