John 8:28 John 3:14-15 Numbers 21:4-9 John 12:32-33 There are three times in the Gospel of John that mention Jesus being lifted up. - What does it mean "to be lifted up?" - Why is it necessary for Jesus to be lifted up? 1. John 8:28. Knowing Who He is: "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He; and I do nothing on My own initiative." 2. John 3:14-15. The Son of Man must be lifted up The Story of the Fiery Serpents in Numbers 21 3. John 12:32-33. It was necessary for Jesus to be lifted up (crucified) to draw all men to Himself.
