美國本月初對進口鋼鐵及鋁徵收25%關稅後，歐盟原擬於4月1日起，對美國威士忌等商品加徵關稅進行報復。但是，歐盟20日宣布，延後對美國威士忌課徵50％關稅，到4月中旬以便與美國進行更多磋商。
