加拿大為了回應美國總統川普的關稅也出手了。加拿大安大略省政府，在10日宣布正式對美國3個州，出口的電力加徵25%的附加費，預計將影響約150萬個家庭和企業。同時，根據近期一項調查關稅所導致的成本增加，尤其在壟斷性和品牌忠誠度高的市場裡，幾乎都將轉嫁到消費者身上。專家也指出，關稅導致的後果恐怕遠超出川普任期。
